Safety
When considering a summer camp home for your child, safety is an important topic. El-Sadai has committed to making child safety priority #1.
Camper Safety – Our #1 Priority
El-Sadai has developed a comprehensive system designed to provide a safe and healthy Christian summer camp environment for your child. Stringent staff hiring and training, child protection education for campers and comprehensive weather safety protocols, are just some of the ways El-Sadai makes Camper safety priority #1.
Each year parents entrust into EL-Sadai’s care over 3000 precious children. El-Sadai takes this responsibility very seriously. El-Sadai has taken great care to create programs, training and processes that have been designed to safeguard your child during their time at Camp. Unfortunately, accidents can happen and illnesses can strike but it is our commitment to you that we will exercise every foreseeable precaution to minimize these risks. The following paragraphs represent a summary of steps we take to provide a positive and healthy experience for your child.
STAFFING AND SUPERVISION
One of the greatest concerns you as a parent face is who influences your child. For this reason, we believe it is imperative that staff members are properly screened and possess the training, skills, education, abilities, and heart required to enhance El-Sadai’s effectiveness. Each summer employee is instructed on general camp safety and security guidelines as well as appropriate behavior with minors.
Activities at camp are scheduled and closely supervised. The camp counselors are trained and tested prior to supervising and coaching campers. Rules are posted and campers receive instruction before engaging in activities. Good supervisory control is stressed and maintained. Campers participate in sporting activities with a ratio of one staff member to every ten campers.
HEALTH SERVICES
El-Sadai has a highly developed health services department that is unparalleled in the camping industry. For starters, El-Sadai employs a full-time, summer round Medical Assistent who oversees all facets of camper and staff medical care.
Advanced medical care is provided by the hospital which is located in the cities around every area of camp management.
FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AND SAFETY
At El-Sadai, we understand your concern for your child’s physical safety. Camp facilities and premises are well maintained. Aside from job-specific training, key staff are trained and certified in applicable areas such as national pool operator, water quality. Smoke detectors are placed throughout the facilities. Fire extinguishers are also located throughout the facilities.
FOOD SERVICE
Dining halls are managed by a full-time, summer round certified Food Service Manager as well as on-site kitchen managers and assistant managers. A professional-grade cooking facility and approved hood and extinguishing system are used. Each dining hall is inspected by county health officials prior to each week of the camping season. All food is purchased by El-Sadai’s Local Camp Administrator through reputable, insured vendors.
CAMP SECURITY
Access to our camps is strictly controlled by gates and environmental barriers. At night, camp security guards patrol the campus.
HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
A key ingredient in keeping El-Sadai safe and fun is ensuring that campers and staff know the rules and boundaries. The goal is to create a culture of safety and accountability. To that end, each camper is given an age-appropriate talk explaining these rules and boundaries at the beginning of their term. These rules and boundaries are adhered to by all campers and all El-Sadai staff.
HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
Healthy relationships are one important outcome of a summer camp experience. We encourage campers to put others first. Relationsips with cabin mates, counselors, and teammates are all opportunities for learning important people skills. Our staff receive intentional training on how to foster healthy relationships which includes regular evaluation of cabin dynamics and camper health.
Campers describe our counselors best, when they say, “The counselors are really just like big brothers and sisters to me.” Or “Even though they are a lot older than you, you can still hang out with them, and it’s really fun.” We know that our campers value their counselors, and parents do as well. That’s why we take great effort in hiring and preparing our staff to create the safest environment possible.
